The Halloween Theme by John Carpenter

Halloween features a psychotic murderer Michael Myers, escapes to go on a bloody rampage while his doctor chases him through the streets. The movie was hugely successful , despite its tiny budget, spawning seven sequels, and the hollywood careers of director John Carpenter and actress Jamie Lee Curtis, herself daughter of stars Janis lee and Tony Curtis. John Carpenter helped to keep costs down by writing the music himself - "I was the fastest and cheapest I could get". Inspired by the exorcist theme, he produced a similiar staccato based melody, with a droning synthesiser background. The suspence produced by the tune, helped to make Halloween into the monster hit that it became. Almost all classic movies have an classic soundtrack, so the impact of a strong theme song cannot be underestimated.
